Location of Le Lauron

Le Lauron’s immediate location is hard to beat: secluded, but not remote; private, and enjoying uninterrupted views – yet a scenic 10-15 min walk (3-5 min drive) to the charming, unspoilt and historic (11th Century) village of Bargemon: one of the prettiest in the area. Life there revolves around the ‘place’ (village square) where, if you sit with your coffee or Pastis, you will get a kaleidoscope of life in Provence. Bargemon has several excellent Provencal restaurants as well as shops for all everyday needs: 2 boulangeries, a supermarket, an excellent butcher, greengrocer, hairdresser, bank, chemist, wine merchant and two café/bars. There is also a small weekly market.

15 km to the west is the market town of Draguignan. St Tropez and the Mediterranean, as well as local golf courses including an excellent championship course at La Motte are all within 1 hour’s drive. In winter, skiing is possible in the Southern Alps (Isola 2000: 2 hrs drive, or Greolieres: 45 mins). For music lovers, there are plenty of summer concerts in nearby churches: Mass with Gregorian plainsong on Sunday mornings at the Abbey de Thoronet; Opera at Aix-en Provence, Orange and Nice; or jazz at Nice and the nearby villages of Seillans and Montferrat.

However, past experience shows that despite best-laid plans to make excursions, most of our guests arrive only to find that Le Lauron’s charms completely absorb them and they never venture further than the village in the morning to buy bread, croissants and daily provisions, and maybe a local vineyard or two to stock up on rosé and red wine… We provide a much fuller ‘information pack’ to all tenants – and are available to answer any questions you may have.
